چکیده
almost been synonymous with machine vision, which suggests processing of data from cameras operating in the visible range, the trend is to use multiple modalities of inputs that include sensors such as radar and microphone arrays. The trend is to tackle the problem using a layered model starting with the sensor outputs and working through other layers such as front-end processing, object localization, object recognition, context recognition, and spatiotemporal perception. Key technical challenges include: 1) developing robust real-world algorithms for midlevel tasks, 2) generating “complete” ontologies of scenes/scenarios of interest, and 3) discerning and describing events beyond the trained set. With respect to autonomous systems, there are further challenges such as computation, scalability over robot platforms, interfacing with ma chine intelligence, and human robot interface components. The field offers a rich variety of signal processing problems in areas such as multichannel processing involving multimodal sensor outputs, cue and behavior inference, and symbolic representations.

Two Novel Chaos-Based Algorithms for Image and Video Watermarking
In this paper we introduce two innovative image and video watermarking algorithms. The paper’s main emphasis is on the use of chaotic maps to boost the algorithms’ security and resistance against attacks. By encrypting the watermark information in a one dimensional chaotic map, we make the extraction of watermark for potential attackers very hard. In another approach, we select embedding po...
متن کاملPractical solutions for counting scalars and dependences in ATOMIUM-a memory management system for multidimensional signal processing
Image and video processing applications involve large multidimensional signals which have to be stored in memory modules. In application-specific architectures for real-time multidimensional signal processing, a significant cost in terms of chip area and power consumption is due to these background memory units. The multidimensional signals are usually modeled in behavioral descriptions with ar...
متن کاملA Generalization of Multidimensional Synchronous Dataflow to Arbitrary Sampling Lattices
Multidimensional Synchronous Dataflow (MDSDF) [15][7] is a model of computation that has been proposed for specifying multidimensional multirate signal processing systems such as image and video processing algorithms. The model is an extension of synchronous dataflow (SDF) [14] and has all of the desirable properties of the SDF model such as static schedulability, exposition of data and functio...
متن کاملBlock-Based Compressed Sensing of Images and Video
A number of techniques for the compressed sensing of imagery are surveyed. Various imaging media are considered, including still images, motion video, as well as multiview image sets and multiview video. A particular emphasis is placed on block-based compressed sensing due to its advantages in terms of both lightweight reconstruction complexity as well as a reduced memory burden for the random-...
متن کاملAuthor ’ s response to the referees ’ reports on " Recent progress in structured low - rank approximation
A subarea of low-rank approximation that is not covered in this overview is tensors low-rank approximation [WVB10, LV00]. Tensor methods are used in higher order statistical signal processing problems, such as independent component analysis, and multidimensional signal processing, such as spatiotemporal modeling and video processing, to name a few. Other areas of research on low-rank approximat...
